“What Can I Do To Be Marketable?”: Bayer CropScience’s Katelyn Thomas
When you’re hitting the job market, you want a resume that boasts hands-on experience in a real-world setting.
Just ask CALS alum Katelyn Thomas.
Each summer at CALS, Thomas focused on finding the widest variety of internships possible. By the time she started her job search, she had interned at a small organic farm, at iconic manufacturing company John Deere and at the North Carolina Department of Agriculture.
And before she even accepted her diploma, she had a full-time job offer as a sales excellence associate from Bayer CropScience.

Since she started in June 2017, the job has taken her to 15 states, from riding through Texas cotton fields doing field trade development, to searching for fungicide opportunities in the “wide-open spaces” of Nebraska.
And just one year later, she’s already moving up: in July 2018, Katelyn was promoted to sales supervisor in North Carolina.
“There is a ton going on within our company right now,” Thomas said. “It’s very exciting – I cannot wait to see what’s in store.”
