Partner Profile: North Carolina Cattlemen’s Association

Grazing cattle can contribute to the health of the soil ecosystem by self-harvesting forages while reinvigorating soil nutrients with natural fertilizer. The North Carolina Cattlemen's Association has invested in the N.C. PSI to increase awareness, research and education that can help farmers learn how to use forages and grazing cattle to improve their soil health

Partner Profile: Tobacco Growers Association of NC

Tobacco was one of the first crops traded and sold internationally by American colonists and remains a top cash crop for North Carolina farmers. The Tobacco Growers Association of North Carolina was an early investor in the N.C. PSI to help accelerate discovery and applied solutions to give their members a competitive edge in the global marketplace.

Partner Profile: North Carolina State Grange

Formed in 1928, the North Carolina State Grange advocates for agriculture and the needs of rural citizens in North Carolina, including health care, transportation and education. With a specific goal of supporting agriculture and developing active citizens in rural communities, North Carolina State Grange became an early partner of the North Carolina Plant Sciences Initiative (N.C. PSI).

Partner Profile: North Carolina Peanut Growers Association

North Carolina farmers produce approximately 441 million pounds of peanuts per year on more than 100,000 acres of land. Ensuring peanuts continue as big business for the state is the goal of the North Carolina Peanut Growers Association and why they were early founders of the N.C. Plant Sciences Initative.

Partner Profile: Corn Growers Association of North Carolina

The 4,000-member organization led and funded by corn growers began in 1977 and promotes the corn industry through education, marketing and research. The focus of producing more hearty corn varieties and hybrids is one main reason the Corn Growers Association supports the research and Extension of N.C. PSI

North Carolina farmers plant on average 500,000 acres of small grains annually. The North Carolina Small Grain Growers Association was one of the early supporters of the N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative, continuing its mission to invest in research that will improve the small grain industry in North Carolina and beyond.
