Transfer Students

We welcome transfer students to join our program!

The path to NC State is not always direct. About 20% of NC State students start their college career at another college or university.

Recommendations for Competitive Applicants

If you wish to transfer into the Plant Biology undergraduate degree program at NC State from another school, undergraduate admissions recommends a minimum GPA of 2.7.

We highly recommend completing the following coursework:

  • English Composition I & II equal to NC State’s ENG 101
  • College-level pre-calculus or higher math course
  • General Biology I & II equal to NC State’s BIO 181 & 183
  • 1 to 2 semesters of General Chemistry with a lab

Having introductory biology and chemistry courses completed enables a student to begin taking plant biology courses in their first semester at NC State.
