Temporary Lecturer – Systematic Botany Course – Spring 2025 Semester

We are seeking to hire an enthusiastic educator to serve as a temporary lecturer for a course in Systematic Botany (4 credit hours; lecture and lab).  Depending on education and experience, the successful candidate will teach either PB 403 (undergraduate only) or PB 403/503 (undergraduate/graduate sections combined) for the Spring 2025 term. The course introduces students to systematic principles and methods as applied to vascular plants, with emphasis on flowering plants. It covers classification, identification, phylogenetics, and molecular approaches, and surveys important and common plant families representing major groups of vascular plants.  One graduate Teaching Assistant and time from our Teaching Technician are assigned to support the course.  Both have multi-year experience supporting the course.  Systematic Botany is a requirement for the University Certificate in Field Botany.  Students enrolling come in large part from Plant Biology, Forest Management, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, and related programs.  Expected class size is 10-15 students, but may vary.
