Anne Edwards is new Carteret director

Anne Edwards, the North Carolina Cooperative Extension horticulture agent for Carteret County, has been named to direct the county’s extension program.

Dr. Joe Zublena, Cooperative Extension Service director, announced Edwards’ appointment as Carteret extension director. She succeeds Ray Harris, who retired in 2009.

Edwards has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agronomy from Virginia Tech University as well as a law degree from the College of William and Mary. She was a county director and agent with the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service in the mid-1980s before earning her law degree. After earning her law degree, she worked for several law firms before joining North Carolina Cooperative Extension in Carteret County in 2005.

“Anne Edwards brings a unique and varied skill set to the county director position in Carteret County,” said Greg Hoover, director for extension’s southeast district, which includes Carteret County. “She embraces change and thrives on new challenges. Anne is adept at analyzing needs and developing strategies to keep the extension program focused on the needs of Carteret County.”
