Biochemistry Faculty Candidate Seminar – Dr. Swathi Nadakuduti
March 4 | 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Please join us this Tuesday 4 March for a Biochemistry faculty candidate seminar for the position of Plant Molecular Biochemist
“Unraveling plant metabolism by associating genes-to-metabolites”
Dr. Swathi Nadakuduti, University of Florida
Bio
Dr. Satya Swathi Nadakuduti is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Horticulture at the University of Florida (UF). She has established an independent externally funded research program in plant molecular biology and biochemistry focused on investigating molecular mechanisms in plants by integrating genomics, transcriptomics and metabolomics approaches. Her research sits at the intersection of understanding the gene regulatory networks underpinning plant metabolism and natural products synthesis.
She holds a PhD in Plant Breeding, Genetics and Biotechnology, from the Department of Horticulture, where she trained with Dr. Cornelius Barry, followed by postdoctoral research with Drs. Robin Buell and David Douches in the Department of Plant Soil and Microbial Sciences, both at Michigan State University. As an Assistant Professor at UF, she has developed and taught several interdisciplinary graduate and undergraduate courses on “Plants for Human Medicine” and use of “Omics Technologies to Advance Plant Biology.
