Extension and NC State’s Day of Giving 2020

Last year, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at NC State raised over $730,000 during the NC State Day of Giving. For 2020, local Extension centers have the opportunity to put the NC State brand to work for your own Day of Giving fundraising efforts, with the money raised through your county’s unique link going back to support your county programs and activities. Check out Dr. B’s Day of Giving video.

To help you successfully raise funds, Extension Marketing and Communications is building an online toolkit, which will deliver everything you need to easily promote the Day of Giving to your local audiences. But we can only do so much. To be successful in 2020, we need your help.

What we need

Appoint a contact to manage communications leading up to and during the Day of Giving on March 25. This could be anyone in your center who understands social media and can access your social accounts.

Send that person’s name to Julie Hayworth-Perman and Lindsay Skinner ASAP.

Your center contact’s role

Leading up to and during the Day of Giving, your point person will be responsible for:

  • Posting content on social media encouraging followers to participate
  • Promoting the event on your center’s communications platforms, including – but not limited to – website and email newsletters
  • Connecting with Extension Communications during the event with questions or concerns – contact information will be provided to your point person

What you can expect from Extension Communications and Extension Advancement

We will provide a Day of Giving Toolkit for local centers. The toolkit will be available on the Extension intranet beginning the week of February 19. It will include:

  • Instructions for using Day of Giving graphic elements and messaging, along with ready-made social media content and guidance on customizing local content
  • Suggestions on how to generate awareness and encourage participation from your center’s audiences

NC State Extension specialists and non-county programs will participate through their campus departments, and can find more info and resources in the CALS Day of Giving Toolkit.

Contact

We will host a Zoom meeting the week of February 19 for all local contacts, where we will review the tools and guidelines, as well as answer your questions. More details to follow in advance.

Thank you for your participation, we look forward to a successful Day of Giving for your local programs!
