Julius Tillery, a 5th generation cotton farmer, will be honored with the William C. Friday Award for his agricultural and environmental work and advocacy. He is an entrepreneur and founder of Black Cotton, which supports black cotton. He is also the North Carolina State Coordinator for the Black Family Land Trust.
The Friday Award is given every year and UNC Park Scholars seniors choose the recipients. This year marks the 23rd annual William C. Friday awards ceremony.
