Join the Prestage Department of Poultry Science for a seminar presentation titled “Biotechnologies to solve bottlenecks in commercial poultry reproduction: ideas explored by the Poultry Multiplication Study Group” given by Dr. Ricardo Jose Garcia Pereira, Associate Professor in Avian Reproduction, University of São Paulo, Brazil.

About the Speaker:

Veterinarian with a master’s and doctorate in Animal Reproduction (UNESP -Brazil) and a post-doctorate from Michigan State University (USA). Since 2011, he has been responsible for the Avian Multiplication Study Group (GEMA), developing research projects and partnerships with reproduction in industrial poultry farming, as well as cooperation and experiments with birds and other wild vertebrates.

Dr. Pereira has experience in reproductive endocrinology, artificial egg incubation, reproductive management of parent and grandparent stocks, manipulation of environmental and hormonal factors, collection and preservation of avian germplasm (e.g. fibroblasts, semen, primordial germ cells and spermatogonial stem cells), seminal analysis and artificial insemination in various species of birds.

He carries out research and extension projects at various companies in the poultry sector, as well as having international partnerships with researchers at the University of Edinburgh, Havard University, North Carolina State University, San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance and Aviagen Group (UK).

Ricardo has published 55 scientific articles in refereed journals, 10 chapters in books, and more than 90 presentations at congresses, symposia and other scientific events.
