Event Navigation

Each semester, the Triangle Roundtable gathers faculty from Duke, UNC, NC State, and local colleges for an evening of dinner and discussion on a question of science and religion. This semester, we’re asking: in an age of climate change and widespread destruction of natural habitats, as human beings increasingly control the future of all life on our planet, why and how we should care for nonhuman species? Does thinking of humans as fundamentally akin to other animals encourage us to respect them or to exploit them? Is Christian thinking about human dominion over the earth a source of ecological problems, or part of the solution? Join us for an evening of conversation with evolutionary ecologist Madhusudan Katti (North Carolina State University) and theologian Celia Deane-Drummond (Oxford, Laudato Si’ Research Institute) as we explore rationales for ecological responsibility.
