Yelverton named 'Most Influential'
Dr. Fred Yelverton, professor of crop science and North Carolina Cooperative Extension specialist, has been named one of the 20 Most Influential People in the Green Industry for 2010 by Green Media.
Green Media, a division of M2MEDIA360, publishes four green industry magazines: Landscape and Irrigation, Arbor Age, Outdoor Power Equipment and SportsTurf.
The 2010 most influential people were nominated by their peers for their ongoing contributions to the green industry. According to Green Media, nominations were reviewed by an in-house panel, which then selected 20 people considered most influential.
“The professionals selected for this honor exemplify commitment to the green industry, and have exhibited a widespread influence on their peers,” Green Media said in announcing the selections.
Yelverton is involved in research, extension and teaching programs that focus on weed management, biology and ecology in turfgrasses as well as plant growth regulators used on turfgrasses. He is co-director of the Center for Turfgrass Environmental Research and Education in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
