As N.C. State University’s baseball team took to the field against Duke University on April 28, military youth and their families -- representing all branches of North Carolina’s military -- were on hand to participate in the third annual Military Appreciation Day Baseball Game.

4-H to honor Larry Wooten, Francis Pressly and Dr. Mike Davis at Lifetime Achievement Awards event

The North Carolina 4-H Lifetime Achievement Awards celebration will be held Wednesday, April 11, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Jane S. McKimmon Center for Extension and Continuing Education in Raleigh, N.C. The annual fundraising event will honor the lifetime achievements of former 4-H members, families and supporters. Media are invited to attend.

Extension part of N.C. State service award

N.C. Cooperative Extension is recognized as one of the factors in North Carolina State University receiving the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement – a Presidential Award. As part of the 2012 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, N.C. State is one of only five Presidential Awardees nationwide, and one of two in the “general community service” category.

Garden classroom offers ‘endless possibilities’ in Caswell County

A new outdoor classroom on the grounds of Caswell County’s Stoney Creek Elementary School promises to be a healthy learning environment in more ways than one. The facility was built at the school through a project led by Brandi Boaz, assistant 4-H Extension agent.

Ada Dalla-Pozza received the 2011 North Carolina State University Alumni Association Award of Merit. The Alumni Association awards honor alumni and friends of the university for their professional and personal accomplishments and their continuing support of NC State.

Naderman receives national FFA honor

Dr. George C. Naderman Jr. of Cary, retired Extension soil specialist with N.C. State University, received the Honorary American FFA Degree during the 84th National FFA Convention, held Oct. 21-23 in Indianapolis. The award is given to those who advance agricultural education and FFA through outstanding personal commitment.
