Dave Herpy is the new NC State Extension Organizational Development Coordinator in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Working in collaboration with the Extension leadership team, Herpy will implement professional and leadership development programs for a workforce of 1,000-plus individuals. He will help develop new strategies for organizational effectiveness while building on time-tested traditions.

Herpy began working with NC State Extension in November 2013, when he was hired as the North Carolina 4-H Camping Specialist with management responsibilities for 4-H Camps and Conference Centers, including human resources, budgeting and fiscal sustainability functions.

“Dave is a proven leader, and I look forward to seeing him employ his experience and talents in his new role,” said Richard Bonanno, NC State Extension director.

Herpy graduated from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, with a bachelor’s degree in leisure studies in August 2001 and holds a master’s in recreation and sport science from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He moved to Raleigh in 2013 to take the position with 4-H.

“Being able to make a difference in the lives of youth and citizens across the state is so important,” he said. “I appreciate that Extension programs focus on the whole individual, including physical, mental and emotional health.”
