Ag-Bash benefits RAFI-USA

Alpha Gamma Rho, the agriculture fraternity at North Carolina State University, held its first Ag-Bash fund-raising concert last year, raising $500 to benefit The Rural Advancement Foundation International – USA (RAFI-USA).

Headquartered in Pittsboro, RAFI-USA “cultivates markets, policies and communities that support thriving, socially just and environmentally sound family farms,” according to the organization’s web site.

Approximately 200 people attended the event at the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity house on Avent Ferry Road in Raleigh. Alpha Gamma Rho is made up of members from family farms, said Zack Greenhill, lead coordinator for the event, so it made sense to benefit an organization that aids family farms. Greenhill said a second Ag-Bash is being planned for Aug. 31, 2011.
