Vicki Martin Appointed as Assistant Director, Academic Programs

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Academic Programs is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Vicki Martin as Assistant Dean for Academic Programs.

Dr. Martin earned her BS from UNC – Charlotte and her MA and PhD from Wake Forest University. Dr. Martin was on the faculty at Notre Dame until 1999, after which time she became Chair of the Biology Department at Appalachian State University.

She has extensive administration experience including serving as the Director of the Optical Microscopy Facility and Director of Graduate Studies at Notre Dame. She served as a Program Director for National Science Foundation from 2010 to 2012. In 2012 she came to NC State as Assistant Dean in Academic Programs, moving to the College of Science with its creation in 2013.

In addition to Dr. Martin’s experience, the search committee, chaired by Shannon Pratt Phillips, noted her passion for students and student success. We are very pleased to have Vicki in the Academic Program office, where she will coordinate programs that enhance student success – Honors, Thomas Jefferson Scholars, study abroad, and research experiences, as well as provide leadership for distance education and graduate programs.
