Coleman Simpson has taken on a new role as the assistant director of Career Services, External Relations, in the Academic Programs Office. He officially began the position on March 15.

Simpson previously worked as the student services specialist and scholarship coordinator in Academic Programs.

Kim Allen, interim associate dean and director of CALS Academic Programs, and Sara Lane, director of CALS Career Services, announced Simpson’s new responsibilities earlier this month.

He will focus on strengthening partnerships with employers and alumni, supporting the professional development and employment success of CALS students, and building and executing a strategic vision for career-focused external engagement for the college.

“This new position will allow our office to work more proactively with employers and alumni and better collaborate with CALS departments in creating connection opportunities for our students,” Lane says. “Coleman brings a high level of excellence and energy to his work, and I’m excited about how he’ll transform our approach to external partnerships.”

Simpson received bachelor’s degrees in agricultural science and political science as well as master’s degrees in agricultural leadership and public administration, all from North Carolina State University. He’s currently pursuing a doctoral degree in educational leadership, policy, and human development.
