Effective March 1, Sheri Schwab, who now serves as Associate Director of NC State Extension and Director of County Operations, will assume the role of Interim Vice Provost for the University’s Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED).

Sheri has extensive experience in equal opportunity, law, HR, and organizational management at NC State over a 20 year period. She began her career (1997-2002) at NC State working in the Office for Equal Opportunity, a precursor to today’s OIED. She joined CALS Personnel in 2002, became CALS’ Assistant Dean for Personnel from 2009 to 2011, and then assumed the role as Director of County Operations.

During her time in Extension, Sheri helped navigate Extension through the visioning sessions that culminated in the 2014 Strategic Plan; re-introduced paid summer Extension internships, led the planning of several State and District Extension Conferences, was the Southern Region Chair of the Middle Managers group, served in several roles for the Extension Committee On Policy, led volunteers to the national Public Issues Leadership Development meetings, strengthened our relationship with NC A&T State University and the NC Association of County Commissioners, won the Barnyard Olympics in 2011, was inducted into Alpha Gamma Rho in 2012, was presented the Visionary Leadership Award by Epsilon Sigma Phi in 2016, helped draft and implement the current Extension MOU, strongly championed women in agriculture, supported many diversity initiatives, and made many other notable contributions to NC State.

Provost Warwick Arden notes that they are looking forward to her leadership in the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity.

All of us will miss Sheri’s excitement, dedication, and passion for her work. Please join NC State Extension in congratulating Sheri on her new role at NC State University and for her outstanding contributions to CALS and especially to Extension.
