Animal, Food and Nutrition Consortium Call for Proposals

Cupped hands holding animal feed

The Animal, Food and Nutrition Consortium, a new industry-member supported consortium focused on animal (food and companion animals) feed/food, nutrition, and GI health is led by Dr. Peter Ferket, William Neal Reynolds Professor of Nutrition and Biotechnology, Prestage Department of Poultry Science, and is one project under the Food Animal Initiative. Briefly, the AFNC provides an opportunity for companies to leverage research dollars as their membership fee is matched by membership fees from multiple companies. Consortium research projects are suggested by industry members and will be in the pre-competitive space.

As of today the consortium has three Full Members and three Associate Members signed up and is continuing to recruit additional members.

The Request for Proposal provides guidance on submitting a proposal for support through the consortium. Appended to the RFP are Research Proposal Topics, submitted by our industry members. These topics will provide guidance as you develop research proposals. Investigators are encouraged to write proposals in response to any one topic, to multiple topics if you see synergy, or to support your “Big Idea,” whether or not a research topic was submitted in that focus area. Although you see all the research topics, please do not share one member’s topics with another industry member.

If you have any questions concerning the research topic you have chosen to prepare a proposal for, please contact the representative of the company for that specific research topic.

Also, if you are thinking about writing a proposal for a particular research topic please alert Dr. Redhead directly.

Members of the AFNC Faculty Advisory Committee are strongly encouraged to submit a research proposal.

Contact Adam Redhead with questions.
