Last week Jim Dunphy received the America Soybean Association’s Pinnacle Award at the annual meeting in Anaheim. The national organization’s new award honors significant and long-lasting contributions to the soybean industry over many years. The Pinnacle Award provides industry-wide recognition of individuals who have demonstrated the highest level of contribution and long-term leadership within the soybean family and industry. NC State Crop and Soil Sciences’ Jim Dunphy is the first to receive this distinction.
This has been a season of appreciation for Dr. Dunphy. In 2016 a new drought-resistant soybean variety was named NC-Dunphy in his honor. In January of this year, he received the Plant Food Association of North Carolina’s Distinguished Service Award. He is also the first recipient of the North Carolina Soybean Producers’ Dunphy Award for his dedication and service to the industry over a distinguished 43-year career.
