In January the North Carolina Soybean Producers Association awarded the first ever Dr. Jim Dunphy Soybean Industry Award to its namesake, Dr. E. James “Jim” Dunphy. The award honors his dedication and service to the industry over a distinguished 43 year career.

Back in his office, Jim Dunphy grins as he displays the award. “I didn’t know this was coming. That night I walked into the banquet hall to join my wife, and there was my whole family!”

In fact, Jim received three awards that night.  In addition to the Soybean Industry Award, the Plant Food Association of North Carolina presented him their Distinguished Service Award in appreciation of his leadership and volunteer service, and the Soy Soybean Producers Association collaborated with NC Cooperative Extension Service to give him a model Kenworth T700 truck with personalized design celebrating his years of accomplishment.
