N.C. Hay Field Day set for July 19
The latest technology and research related to hay production will be the topic of an N.C. State University field day July 19 at the Mountain Research Station in Waynesville.
Highlights include a trade show, educational exhibits and demonstrations on mowing, tedding and spraying; drill calibration; pasture fertility; cutting height and weed pressure; rainfall runoff; stockpiled fescue and temporary fencing; pasture plant identification and weed control; and raking and baling.
Registration takes place from 9 to 9:30 a.m., with the program from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event is co-sponsored by the N.C. Agricultural Research Service and N.C. Cooperative Extension, which are part of NCSU’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences; the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services; and the Haywood County Soil and Water Conservation District. Carolina Farm Credit is sponsoring lunch.
