Prestage Department of Poultry Science Graduates Nine Students

On December 15th, nine undergraduates and one Ph.D. candidate graduated from the Prestage Department of Poultry Science.

  • Undergraduate Daniel Adams of Pine Level, NC graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in poultry science with a science concentration, as well as a bachelor’s of science degree in animal science. Adams plans on furthering his poultry degree with a focus on nutrition and/or immunology.
  • Undergraduate Connor Bullard of Stedman, NC graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in poultry science.
  • Undergraduate Elizabeth Deese of Rockingham, NC graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in poultry science with a technology concentration, as well as a minor in feed milling. Deese will take a position with Tyson Foods at its Monroe, NC location.
  • Undergraduate Chandler Keck of Albermarle, NC graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in poultry science with a science concentration, a bachelor’s of science degree in animal science with a concentration in the industry, as well as three minors: agriculture business management, biological science and feed milling. Keck will be attending graduate school at NC State within PDPS under the direction of Professor Chris Ashwell.
  • Undergraduate Cole Mullis of Red Cross, NC graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in poultry science with a technology concentration, as well as three minors: agriculture business management, animal science and feed milling. Mullis will be working with Tyson Foods at its Monroe, NC location and participate in its Management Training Program.
  • Undergraduate Joseph Perkins of Iron Station, NC graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in poultry science with a technology concentration and a minor in agriculture business management. Perkins plans on continuing to work within the poultry industry.
  • Undergraduate Eric Tedder of Knightdale, NC graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in poultry science with a technology concentration. Tedder will be moving to Springfield, AR to work for Cargill.
  • Undergraduate Tyler Sparks of Leicester, NC graduated with an agriculture business management degree and a minor in poultry science.
  • Undergraduate Rooks Wells of Rose Hill, NC graduated with a degree in agriculture science and minors in agriculture business management and poultry science.
  • PhD candidate Jason Payne of Weatherford, TX completed his doctoral degree under the direction of PDPS Professor Robert Beckstead; he defended his dissertation on “Blackhead disease: New insights to an old disease.” Payne hopes to become a professor of poultry science.
