Opening Doors is a three-day retreat that provides a framework for increasing diversity awareness and enhances a person’s ability to create an inclusive organization. The overall goal of Opening Doors is to facilitate both personal growth and systemic organizational change.

Opening Doors is open and free to all faculty and staff within the college. The format of this retreat provides for open discussion, self-examination and an objective analysis of our social system as well as a constructive means to bridging differences through understanding personal responsibility. As a result, constructive methods of creating a welcoming and inclusive environment are developed.

In collaboration with the university’s Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity, CALS is pleased to offer our 8th annual retreat. This year’s Opening Doors retreat is October 11-13, 2017, at the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia, NC. The retreat is free for all NC State University employees and close affiliates. Meals and lodging are included. Outside organizations are welcome to join us for a $500 fee for non-profit agency employees and $700 for private industry business employees.

If two or more participants show an interest in driving a state-provided van, round-trip transportation will also be provided from the NC State University Brickhaven location.

Please register for the Opening Doors Retreat as soon as possible, as seats are limited.
