Turner Pride has been appointed director of North Carolina Cooperative Extension’s Vance County Center, effective Oct. 1. The appointment was announced this week by Vance County Manager Jordan McMillen and Sheri Schwab, NC State Extension’s associate director.

Pride succeeds Morris White, who transferred in April to Durham County, where he serves as county Extension director.

Pride joined Extension in 2013 as a 4-H youth development agent and has served as interim county Extension director since White’s transfer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in family science from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a master’s degree in public administration from North Carolina Central University.

Extension’s North Central District Director Jim Cowden expressed his confidence in Pride’s appointment as county Extension director. Pride’s strengths include community leadership, interpersonal skills, event management and coordination, teamwork, budgeting and other financial practices, Cowden said.
