The Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) provides training, resources and assistance related to areas of equal opportunity and compliance. This includes working toward complete inclusion of all individuals with all abilities and backgrounds to fulfill the university’s mission.
Through collaboration with campus partners, the OEO provides information on federal, state and local laws, as well as university policies. The office also works to provide appropriate accommodations for students, staff and faculty on the basis of disability, religion and pregnancy to ensure equal access to all NC State programs and services.
To learn more about the OEO, education opportunities are available in REPORTER, including the following workshops:
- Fundamentals of Equal Opportunity
- Applied Skills in Equal Opportunity
- Responsible Employee Training (only for those designated/notified as such)
Learning communities also provide a way for members of the campus community to engage in creating a welcoming and supportive environment. Here are a few related to equal opportunity:
- Access, Belonging and Culture (ABC) Community of Practice at NC State – an affinity group of NC State employees who practice principles of Access, Belonging, and Culture (ABC) to create community in the various units across the university.
- Accessibility Collaborative – facilitates collaborative allyship and engagement with accessibility topics and initiatives as part of a university-wide commitment to removing barriers to inclusion.
- Council on the Status of Women – advises the Provost on matters related to the professional development and support of all NC State women on and off campus, including faculty, staff and students.
