Know an individual or group that is doing fantastic work in IPM? Why not nominate them for a Southern IPM Center Friends of IPM Award?
Beginning in 2008, the Southern IPM Center has recognized Friends of IPM– those with extraordinary potential to contribute to the development and implementation of research, extension, or implementation of IPM in the Southern region of the United States. Many of the criteria for the awards are based on the National IPM Roadmap published by the USDA Department of Agriculture. Those that are named “Friends of IPM” are given an award for their dedication and achievement.
Applicants must be in the Southern region (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Virginia).
Categories:
- Professional
- Bright Idea (research-oriented or new idea)
- IPM Implementer (a practitioner who practices IPM in the real world)
- IPM Educator (Extension or teacher)
- IPM Communicator (individual that is really good at communicating IPM)
- Pulling Together (Group)
- Future Leader (Young Professional)

We will present only one award per category for Bright Idea, IPM Implementer, IPM Educator, IPM Communicator, Pulling Together, and Future Leader. If scoring is too close to call, there may be more than one awardee per category.

We will present only one award per graduate category. However, if scores are too close to call, there may be joint awardees.
The graduate student award, in addition to a public award presentation, comes with a sizable monetary award. The winning Master’s student receives $2,000, and the winning doctoral student receives $3,000.
