NC State University is moving forward with a reduction of Google storage for employee and shared drives.
The 2025 reduction timeline is as follows:
January 2025
- Removal of 1 TB employee (individual users/MyDrive) exceptions; step down to 500 GB exception
- 90 day warning to employees (individual users/MyDrive) with exceptions of 500 GB (including generic accounts)
February
- 60 day warning to employees (individual users/MyDrive) with exceptions of 500 GB (including generic accounts)
March
- 30 day warning to employees (individual users/MyDrive) with exceptions of 500 GB (including generic accounts)
April 2025
- Removal of 500 GB employee (individual users/MyDrive) exceptions; all employee quotas at 100 GB
- All Faculty/Staff/Student Individual User exceptions removed
- Tentative plan to remove non-paid shared drive exceptions (more info to come on payment options)
July 2025
- Tentative shared drive purchase billing
Employees whose Google accounts or shared drives exceed their storage quota should contact CALS IT for assistance and information on reducing usage. You can submit a request through the CALS IT Service Portal or call 919-515-6777.
