We are excited to relaunch the CALS Proud program this spring! This in-person program is open to everyone in our CALS Community, across all of our locations. We will hold an in-person session this spring on May 16, at the Lenoir County Extension Center. The main focus of CALS Proud is to provide opportunities for our community to become more connected to the amazing work done each and every day by those in our College, and to leave participants with new skills that they can use when back at their work sites. Lunch and snacks will be provided. The session will run from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and is offered in person only.
The CALS Proud program will provide a focus on self-awareness leveraging the FiSH Philosophy. Or as they say, “who are we being while we’re doing what we’re doing”. Participants will receive a workbook to guide them through this session. The second part of the day will take a deeper dive into self-awareness to foster habit-building. Let’s face it, we all struggle to get through everything on any given day. With some simple and effective tools, we can build habits to help us navigate our daily work demands, all while channeling what we do intuitively.
This CALS Proud program is universally applicable and it connects, as well as reinforces, the following key themes from our College’s mission, core values, and Strategic Plan:
- Building Community – People Focused
- Building Trust – Living Our Land Grant Mission
- Building Communication – Collaboration
- Building Accountability – Sustainability
- Building Value – CALS Proud
This program is open to all full-time CALS employees: Staff, Faculty, Extension Associates/Assistants, Research Associates, Coordinators, Managers, Senior Research Scholars, Research Technicians, Administrative Staff, County Operations employees, etc. Everyone means everyone. The workshop is free and includes lunch and break service for those who attend. You must register for this event by Friday, May 3, 2024.
We also plan to host two additional CALS Proud sessions this fall in the West and Central regions, tentatively for Tuesday, September 10 (West) and Tuesday, October 8 (Central). This will provide an opportunity for everyone in our CALS community, across all of our locations, to participate in this valuable professional development program. Due to low registration, the main campus event has been canceled for now, but everyone is welcome to attend at any of the locations.
Please note: This event is contingent upon enrollment. Our goal is to have broad representation from across our CALS Community. Space is limited to 50 participants per session. After the registration deadline, we will finalize the attendee list to ensure equitable participation across CALS, and email confirmation of your registration no later than Tuesday, May 7, 2024. We will keep a wait list if needed.
If you have any questions, please contact any member of our CALS Proud training team.
