House Agriculture Committee Chairman Michael Conaway (R, TX-11) released their initial version of the 2018 Farm Bill (which they call the “Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018”). Note that this is just the first step in the Farm Bill process. The full House of Representatives will still need to debate and pass a version of this Bill. The Senate will then also have to come up with their own variant of the Bill (while having access to the approved House version) and pass it. The two versions of the Bill are then to be reconciled through a Conference Committee (and will need to pass through both legislative Chambers), prior to going to the President for his signature.
