Bio

Cassie Scanlan is a USDA Farm Costs and NC Budgeting Extension Assistant in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics. In this role, she engages with industry stakeholders and collects data on chemicals, equipment, seeds and other farm costs for both the USDA and budgeting purposes. Farm cost data that is gathered helps allocate grants by the USDA-NRCS and is also used to create extension budgets to help farmers make informed planting decisions in NC.

Scanlan graduated from NC State University with a B.S. in Animal Science and a B.S. in Zoology in 2013 and with a M.S. in Animal Science in 2016 and graduated from Iowa State University with a M.S. in Animal Breeding and Genetics in 2019. She worked in the swine industry for 4 years before coming to work at NC State. In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding, music, playing with her dogs and hanging out with friends and family.
