New Talk Series: PMB Shorts

Our first PMB Shorts event on February 21st.

The Department of Plant and Microbial Biology has launched a new talk series titled PMB Shorts! PMB Shorts are 20 minute, non-technical talks given by anyone in the department. Prior to the talk, we have a pizza lunch and social event geared towards connecting with colleagues and meeting new employees.

Our first PMB Short was on February 21st, from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Kennedy Brinson, graduate student in Dr. De Gezelle’s Lab gave a wonderful talk on ethnobotany and her time in the field in Belize! We had a great turnout and it was wonderful to see new and familiar faces while listening to Kennedy’s presentation.

We wanted to create an event that not only fosters a sense of community, but also allows for a sharing of the knowledge that is present in our department. PMB is very vast with many different areas of focus, so being able to come together and hear about what people have been up to is a great opportunity to connect and learn from each other.

Our remaining PMB Shorts for the semester are on Wednesday, May 27th, and Wednesday, April 17th from 12:00-1:00pm in 2212 Gardner Hall. We hope to see you there.

If you are interested in presenting on a topic of your choosing at a coming PMB Short, please contact Lauren Gore.
