Administered by a board of directors and the ABM Undergraduate Programs Office, the Office of Student Mentoring (OSM) provides students with the resources, personalized plans and monitoring necessary to be competitive in the job market upon graduation. OSM services include internship and job resources, specialized skills workshops, research opportunities, job shadowing, networking events, career exploration and a mentorship program.
Road trips held every semester expand students’ professional network as they visit business leaders and receive behind-the-scene tours of agribusinesses, often with ABM alumni. The trips give ABM majors an opportunity to get to know each other and faculty members in an informal setting.
Professional Mentoring Center
The OSM has started a Professional Mentoring Program where students will be paired with an industry professional to further their networking skills, guide them as they move toward young professional life and help answer questions they might have about the agricultural industry.
The Peer Mentoring Center helps students strategize ways to add as much value during college as possible in preparation for the job market. It does not replace academic advising, but is an additional resource open to all undergrads.
The OSM was established with generous support from Robert “Robbie” Fulford, a North Carolina entrepreneur and NC State alumnus who serves on the board of directors. The OSM board includes ABM alumni and agriculture industry professionals who work with the ABM Undergraduate Programs Office to administer the OSM.
