Alejandro Gutierrez-Li is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at North Carolina State University. His research interests lie in the areas of labor economics and applied microeconomics, with an emphasis on economics of immigration and entrepreneurship.
Dr. Gutierrez-Li’s work focuses on the economics of labor, including labor supply and demand, wages, labor mobility, and immigration policy. His extension activities at NC State are aimed at developing best practices to train, manage, and retain agricultural workers to maintain the vitality and dynamism of the economy.
Professor Gutierrez-Li holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis, a Master in Economic Theory from ITAM in Mexico City, and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Costa Rica (with highest honors).
