Conservation Easements & Estate Planning Training with Andrew Branan

Please join this series of webinars on September 7, 14 and 21 at 12:30 p.m. for an update on conservation easements and their potential impact on land disposition (e.g. estate planning and farm succession decisions). Robert Andrew Branan, JD, Assistant Extension Professor, NC State Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, will deliver the series.
September 7, 2022 : Part I: Rights in Real Property. A review of how land is acquired and titled, how such titling affects transfer options, as well as a review of rights in property held by other parties, including easements, rights of way, liens, leases, etc.
September 14, 2022: Part II: The Disposition of Real Property. A review of how property is transferred by sale, gift and death, including the legal documents involved (i.e. sales contracts, options to purchase, wills and trusts [and LLCs]), as well as property, income, and estate and gift tax consequences.
September 21, 2022: Part III: The Impact of Conservation Easements on Real Property Transfer Decisions. An exploration of how the restrictions imposed by a conservation easement impact future transfer decisions and planning.
