Hi, my name is Kylie Deuser and I am in the Class of 2027 at NCSU CVM! I’m originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and attended NCSU undergraduate school as an out-of-state student. I graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science, with a double minor in Global Public Health and Agricultural Business Management in 2022.
I’m pursuing Mixed Animal Medicine because my goal is to develop a mixed animal veterinary practice with a global outreach program to ensure the health of animals for the well-being of their owners and communities. My first mission trip to the Dominican Republic solidified my desire to help underserved communities around the world that depend on animals not just for companionship, but also as sources of food. I had many amazing experiences that helped me learn more about all kinds of animals such as being a necropsy assistant at Rollins Diagnostic lab, working at the Swine Educational Unit, and being an intern at both Wake County and Orange County Animal Shelter. All three of these experiences allowed me to be introduced to different aspects of veterinary medicine that I had not yet been. Other than pre-vet experiences, I spent time being an outreach coordinator/event planner for CRU on campus. I loved getting to put together fun and unique events to foster community and give people a chance to meet people they otherwise wouldn’t have.
