APVMA 2026
American Pre-Vet Medical Association (APVMA) Symposium, held from March 6–8 at Louisiana State University.
VetPAC Director, Dr. Shweta Trivedi, and Program Associate, Ms. Casey Parson, traveled with 7 VetPAC Interns and 5 Pre-Vet Club members, and our students represented NC State University exceptionally well.
We are proud to highlight several incredible achievements:
- Jeimy Aguilar-Mayoral, ANS major and ANS Club Secretary, was elected to the APVMA National Executive Board as Secretary for 2026–27. Competing against six other candidates, Jeimy delivered an outstanding speech and represented NC State with excellence. This marks the 13th time in 16 years that an NC State student has been elected to the APVMA national board.
- NC State’s Pre-Vet Club (PVMA) received the Outstanding National Club Award for excellence in organizing impactful events, fostering member engagement, and promoting professional development. This is the 5th time in the past 16 years the club has received this national recognition.
- Three NC State students presented research at the first-ever APVMA Research Slam, highlighting the breadth of undergraduate research in our community:
- Amelia Byrd & Dr. Shweta Trivedi – Assessment of Stress in a Short-Term Veterinary Study Abroad Using PSS-10 Scale
- Georgia Eckhardt & Dr. Brian Langerhans – Visitor Disturbances and Stress: Implications for Aquarium Fish Welfare
- Rachel Titus & Dr. Alon Greenbaum – Peptide Microgels for Dexamethasone Inner Ear Delivery
