Hi all! My name is Anusha Chandra and I am honored to be a member of the NCSU CVM class of 2027. I am from Charlotte, North Carolina and I graduated with a B.S in Animal Science with minors in Nutrition and English from NC State University in December 2022.
Currently, I have my eye on small animal GP as my future career, but would love to dive deeper into and learn more about emergency/critical care work. I am also extremely passionate about One Health, and in the future I wish to stay and work in parts of India to develop a better trap-neuter-return system for the stray animal population.
I am so grateful that NC State had so many experiences that I could choose from that all guided me towards vet school. My junior and senior year, I got hired as a research assistant for the Kim Lab of Monogastric Nutrition and Digestive Physiology. I was able to conduct independent research and learned so much about animal nutrition, which was great because it was one of my minors! In addition, I was a VetPAC intern my junior year which truly allowed me to build on my leadership skills– I planned out the annual networking event and was able to make many connections within the veterinary industry. I also participated in the South Africa study abroad and got to experience vet med in another country, while making friends that I am currently in vet school with.
