Stephanie Thi

Biography

My name is Stephanie Thi and I am very excited to be a part of NCSU CVM’s class of 2022! I grew up in Bridgeport, West Virginia and attended NCSU for undergrad.

I graduated in the fall of 2017 with a major in Zoology and a minor in Biotechnology. I had originally intended to graduate in 3 years with just my major. However, I found the extra year to gain experience, as well as the extra classes I took for my minor, helped me tremendously in asserting my interests and improving my vet school application. In addition to gaining clinical veterinary and animal experience, I was able to participate in research projects at NIEHS, the Biotechnology Dept., the CVM, and the Poultry Science Dept.

Pre-Vet Club introduced me to other fields of veterinary medicine (large animal, public health, exotics, etc.) and leadership opportunities to help fellow my pre-vets. I was also a VetPAC Intern and an APVMA planning committee member when NCSU hosted in 2017.

Outside of pre-vet life, I was involved in University Housing as an RA for two years, where I was able to learn more about diversity and inclusion. Though there is a common misconception that veterinary medicine is only about the animal, I find it very important to get along with people of a variety of backgrounds and beliefs!

Someday, I hope to ensure the welfare of research animals as a laboratory animal veterinarian.
