Three NC State Students Receive Goldwater Scholarships

The NC State University Fellowships Office is pleased to announce that three third-year students have received the prestigious Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship this year. The recipients include Caitlyn Elliott, who is studying plant biology and biochemistry.

Microbes Contribute a Surprisingly Large Array of Proteins in Fermented Foods

A new study examining the proteins found in fermented foods like yogurt, cheese and bread found that a surprisingly large number, and percentage, of microbial proteins contribute to their overall protein content. These microbes have long been used in traditional fermentation processes and are widely associated with the beneficial or probiotic nature of these fermented foods. 

NC State Researchers Join International Research Platform to Improve Nitrogen Use

To better understand the nitrogen cycle and fertilizer use in agriculture, NC State University researchers have joined an international coalition focused on developing data and tools to transform how nitrogen is managed in farming. 

2026 Graduate Student Research Symposium Winners Named

Nearly 200 NC State graduate students presented their research during the 19th annual Graduate Student Research Symposium. Two students in PMB labs, Alden Sears and Jade Lyons received awards for their work at this annual event.
