Banzhaf Honored by Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis

Professor Spencer Banzhaf was named a 2024 Fellow by the Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis (SBCA) on March 18, 2024, at the Annual Conference in Washington, DC. The Society’s highest honor, the Fellows Program recognizes scholars who have made substantial contributions to the theory or practice for benefit-cost analysis.

Banzhaf, Director of the Center for Environmental and Resource Economic Policy, has demonstrated exemplary leadership and innovation in his research, particularly in environmental and urban economics. As a SBCA Fellow, he joins a group of individuals recognized for their exceptional contributions to the field. This honor, previously designated as SBCA’s Outstanding Achievement Award, acknowledges his past achievements and signifies a continued commitment to advancing the principles of benefit-cost analysis for informed decision-making.

The Society works to improve the theory and practice of benefit-cost analysis and support evidence-based policy decisions. SBCA’s global membership includes scholars and practitioners from government, academia, nonprofits and private industry, representing a variety of disciplines, such as economics, law, engineering, public policy, decision science and natural science.
