New “ARE Talks” Series Kicks off With Real Estate Panel

On February 29, 2024, Agricultural and Resource Economics hosted its inaugural “ARE Talks” Panelist Series Event. Sponsored by the ABM Office of Student Mentoring and Agricultural Entrepreneurship program, the first topic, “Real Estate in 2024,” exposed students to pressing issues in real estate and affordable housing.

The Ed Fitts Foundation COO Stacy Woodhouse, TNT Developers President Tone Terrell, OSM-Founder and ABM Entrepreneur-In-Residence Robert Fulford, Yesterway Cabin Co. President Michael Harden, Mattamy Homes VP of Land George Young and Land Developer and Realtor Lee Lambert joined the panel. OSM Coordinator Madison Weast and Ag Business Management Student Theodore Karres moderated the panel discussion.

The panelists shared their expertise covering a series of questions such as How can I get started in Real Estate, Land Acquisitions, Zoning Issues, Commercial and Residential Developments, Renovating and Reselling Properties, Modular vs. Stick-Built Homes, Tiny Homes, Rental Properties and Short-term rentals, Challenges in Making Affordable Housing and 3-D Printed Homes.

Future ARE Talks events will continue to explore diverse topics related to agriculture and business, fostering learning and professional growth for ABM students.
