NCSFMRA Summer Tour Highlights

This year, the North Carolina Society for Farm Mangers and Rural Appraisers (NCSFMA) toured agribusinesses in the Columbia, SC area. Adam Kantrovich of Clemson Cooperative Extension assisted in the tour planning and the group was joined by Clemson Cooperative Extension’s Nathan Smith. This collaboration between North and South Carolina Extension allowed 20 participants to visit these four impressive facilities:

• South Carolina State Farmers Market – Brad Boozer, market manager, spoke to the group.
• WP Rawl and Son – The tour saw processing and packaging of chopped kale for local grocery stores.
• Titan Farms – The group saw Titan’s massive peach packing operation which included robotic sorting and grading.
• Yon Farm and Market – Highlights included learning about the company’s organizational structure and history.
