Beghin and Goodwin on Farm Bill Panel in DC

ARE’s Barry Goodwin and John Beghin participated in a panel discussing the 2018 Farm Bill at the American Enterprise Institute on May 3d. The panel was led by Prof Vince Smith of Montana State University who leads a large farm policy program at the AEI, and with the participation of Prof Dan Sumner of UC Davis. Barry reviewed so-called title I farm policies providing subsidies in various forms to farmers; Beghin described the sugar program and its costly impact on consumers and users of sugar.
