October Report on Economic Indicators

ARE’s Michael Walden has published the October 2017 North Caroline Index of Economic Factors.

The Index was down slightly in September from its level in August.  The main driver was an almost 15% drop in building permits, likely reflecting some of the initial impacts of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.  On the positive side, initial jobless claims, manufacturing hours, and manufacturing earnings were all improved.
