Virtual VetCAMP 2023 Schedule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Virtual VetCAMP is a weeklong online program, hosted on Zoom, designed to offer high school students a similar experience to in-person VetCAMP with added flexibility. New to Virtual VetCAMP, camper were able to purchase a dissection. The optional dissection kit included a brain, heart, eye, kidney, and fetal pig. Campers also had the opportunity to interact with variety of veterinary professionals such as the staff at the NC Museum of Natural Science’s Window on Animal Health, the NC State CVM Admissions Team and the NC State CVM Turtle Rescue Team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0I love how interactive [Dr. Trivedi] made it, even though it was virtual. I learned so much this week!<\/p>

DAY 1 – Introductory<\/h3>\n \n\n \t \t

Day 1 provides an introduction to Virtual VetCAMP, where campers met CVM\u2013NCSU admissions officials and DVM students. The session offered valuable information about the resources and opportunities VetPAC has to offer.<\/p>\n\t \t \n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n\n

DAY 2 – Shelter Medicine<\/h3>\n \n\n \t \t

Day 2’s session featured Dr. Jo Jarred, the Medical Director of Orange County Animal Services in Chapel Hill, NC. She provided insightful information about shelter medicine and the opportunities available for students.

DAY 4 – Independent Dissection: Fetal Pig<\/h3>\n \n\n \t \t

The morning of Day 4 session, campers were asked to identify various anatomical structures and shared their experiences with other campers during the dissection.

During the Day 5 Morning Session, campers learned about the skeletal system. During this lesson, Dr. T explained the anatomy of a bone, types of bones, skeletal systems and the joints for Forelimb and Hind Limb.<\/p>\n\t \t \n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
