These fellowships offer veterinary and undergraduate students the opportunity to work on independent research projects with a faculty mentor and explore non-practice careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tulane National Primate Research Center<\/strong> Food and Drug Administration Center For Veterinary Medicine Research<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Enrichment Summer Program at Michigan State CVM<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Opportunity<\/em>: The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute is sponsoring a summer research program at Michigan State University for undergraduate students. The goal of this program is to provide hands-on research exposure and graduate or professional school preparation opportunities for individuals who are from diverse backgrounds that are underrepresented in biomedical research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Oregon National Primate Research Center<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Opportunity<\/em>: The Oregon National Primate Research Center invites college undergraduates who are currently enrolled as sophomores or juniors in accredited 4-year institutions to apply for the ONPRC Summer Fellowship Program. Successful applicants for one of several 10-week apprenticeships will receive a $3000 stipend. (Successful applicants who live out of state may also be eligible for up to $400 in assistance with travel expenses.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Southwest National Primate Research Center<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Opportunity<\/em>: The Southwest National Primate Research Center (SNPRC) provides educational and training opportunities for a limited number of students during an 8-week summer session. Both undergraduate (Junior or Senior levels) and graduate (Ph.D. and veterinary) students at accredited academic institutions are welcome to apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n USAJOBS.GOV<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n When looking for research opportunities with government entities, go to USAJOBS.GOV<\/a> and type \u201cstudent trainee, USDA, research.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n You will see all of the government positions available all over the country, but it is up to you to look at the descriptions to see what will work for you as far as when, where, and whether there is an active involvement in research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For example, if you only want a summer job, be sure the posting does not require you to work year-round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Do not limit yourself to a specific place- you will find many more opportunities around the country and most will pay you enough to live there for the summer.
