This program is designed to teach students about crop and turfgrass production issues through a nine-day adventure in Costa Rica. Students will learn about local agricultural practices, agri-tourism, and sustainable ways of life in Costa Rica. Students will spend their time with locals at EARTH University as well as the Four Season Golf course, who will expose them to the tropical environment. Students will learn about native habitat, ornamental plants, and crops and turfgrass practices. Research laboratories working with crops and turf will expose students to hands-on research practices and provide them a practical experience. Students will stay in the local community to provide them with a full cultural immersion experience.
Program Dates: May 15 – May 28, 2017
- CS 492: Experiential Learning Experience in Costa Rica (3 Credits) or
- CS 493/620: Special Problems in Crop Science (3 Credits)
Note: It is highly recommended but not required that students enroll in CS 495/590 which meets during the second half of the Spring 2017 term.
Cost: $2,000. Cost includes non-refundable application charge, tuition, room & board, in-country excursions. Not included: Airfare, visa fees, and personal expenses.
