Marissa Herchler Cohen works with the feed milling program, conducting and developing food safety training for livestock and poultry feed, pet food and ingredient manufacturers.
She serves all 100 counties and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (ECBI).
Areas of focus include
- the regulatory impact on animal food production,
- distance education (DE) training for animal food safety and
- industry outreach.
Marissa Cohen earned her master’s degree at NC State University, where she is currently a Ph.D. candidate studying Poultry & Animal Science, Nutrition and Agricultural & Extension Education. She works to ease the regulatory burden of the Food Safety Modernization Act on animal food manufacturers across the state. She also works with the Feed Milling Program to develop educational materials for use in Extension and academic programs.
