New PDPS Positions Supporting Research, Teaching and Extension
The Prestage Department of Poultry Science is currently pursuing four faculty searches:
Assistant Professor (Poultry Meat – Food Safety)
A post-harvest food safety position is currently interviewing candidates. The position requires the development of programs focused on improving the safety of poultry meat and eggs and provides microbiological and food safety support for the poultry processing industry. The position supports the NC Food Processing and Manufacturing Initiative (NCFPMI), a collaboration between the N.C. Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Serivces, and NC State University.
Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist
A position focused on developing a strong Extension program and conducting applied research in animal food manufacturing and extrusion technologies, including the conversion of agricultural and food industry co-products and residuals into value-added animal food/feed products has identified candidates and will begin interviewing soon. This faculty member’s programs would be expected to implement initiatives of the NC State Feed Milling Program, the Animal Food & Nutrition Consortium and the Animal Academy.
Extension Associate for 4-H and Youth Development
A extension associate position responsible for planning, developing, executing, evaluating and reporting the impacts of quality poultry-based youth educational and training programs is in the pre-interview stage.
Endowed Layer Professorship
The Braswell Family Farms endowed professorship has been approved. The position will focus on layer nutrition and reproductive physiology.
