Dr. Jenny Xiang, a member of PMB faculty, was selected as a Distinguished Fellow of the Botanical Society of America (BSA). This is the highest honor awarded by the BSA, given to members who demonstrate excellence in research, education and public policy, and who have made outstanding contributions to the professional community. Dr. Xiang was selected based on her impressive work in the lab and as a mentor, her contributions to the BSA, and her effort to foster international collaborations.
A colleague at the BSA said Dr. Xiang “has worked tirelessly to advance our knowledge of plant diversity and to foster collaborations with Chinese colleagues, and our society owes her a great debt on both counts. I tremendously admire her development of Cornus into a model clade for studies on many different levels. Her long-term devotion to this group of plants has really paid off for our discipline, and her body of work demonstrates the enduring value of this clade-based approach to science. I have long admired her work, her work ethic, and her devotion to botany and to the BSA.”
